Our Typical Week Day

Two months since Mummy went back to work. We are really lucky to have an extremely accommodating nai nai (paternal grandma) who offer to babysit both me and mei mei at our place. It saves Mummy a lot of traveling time and fuss if she needs to fetch the two of us to and fro. So, every morning, nai nai will come over to our place before mummy needs to leave for work.

Then, she will stay and take care of us alone till ah mah (maternal grandma) comes back in the afternoon. With both grandmas to ‘juggle’ us at home, mum can then concentrate and focus on her work. Very lucky for mum, it’s not easy to be a mother, let alone full time working mother.

Mummy really don’t know much on how I keep myself occupy when I’m home alone with nai nai and mei mei. Sometimes before she leave for work, she let me do water painting, use crayons and colour pencils. Or she tries to rotate giving me certain toys to meddle with, things that I can do on my own so that nai nai can attend to mei mei. Though I can now attend playgroup daily but mummy choose to only enroll me next year so that it can save nai nai the troubles having to bring me to and fro with mei mei. Hopefully by next year, mei mei can walk and her routine is more structured then it will be easier to bring both of us out.

In the morning, nai nai will have to bathe mei mei first, then breakfast for me, then milk for mei mei then bathe me then fruits for me, prepare lunch, feed me lunch then put me to nap. In between all these basic chores, she still needs to have breakfast and lunch herself. Lately, when ye ye is around, he will come over our place and bring me out for breakfast. So, morning really pass very fast for us.

By mid-noon, ah mah will be back and she will be able to help to babysit mei mei who by the way sleeps with ah mah every night instead of me and mummy so that we will not wake each other up. So, you can imagine how darling mei mei is to ah mah.

After nai nai finished feeding me dinner and if it is not too late, she will bathe me and then go back home around 7 plus. By the time, mummy reaches home at 830pm, she will have to bathe me if I haven’t then have dinner then read a book to mei mei , play with her for a while if she’s not sleeping, pack up the toys with me helping. And, finally settling into a bedtime routine with me that includes milk for me, she bathe, flashcards for me, some simple games, my poo poo and pee pee business and books. Her ‘ME’ time will happen only after I slept and if she’s not too tired or sick.

Somehow after typing this out, Mummy has mixed feelings. It’s like every weekday is busy but what happened on the day itself is typically all the basic activities but she’s already feeling tired. Imagine when I start to have enrichment classes, mei mei is no longer a baby but a toddler like me, can she juggle? She’s not sure but she will. Every mother out there did it.

By the way, mei mei is overweight!!! Just like me then. She's already 8kg now.
